We’re excited to announce a fresh chapter for Alberta Avenue. As seen in Global News, the neighborhood is shedding its “Avenue of Champions” slogan and embracing a new identity.

Through this rebrand, the Alberta Avenue Business Association aims to:

  • Celebrate authenticity — spotlighting the distinct voices, stories, and flavours that make our avenue unique.

  • Unify and amplify — giving local businesses and creative institutions a stronger, more cohesive presence and platform.

  • Invite exploration — making the avenue more welcoming and navigable, inspiring patrons to discover corners, businesses, and experiences they might otherwise miss.

  • Evolve with the community — reflecting the changing identity, diversity, and energy of our neighbourhood, not resting on a legacy but honoring it while growing into what’s next.

Together, we hope this new look helps Alberta Avenue shine even brighter — as a destination for culture, commerce, and connection.

Taproot Edmonton

The legendary Green Onion Cake Man Siu To is making headlines with his newest product - a golf club!

“Siu To, the man credited with bringing the iconic green onion cake to Edmonton in 1980, and known to many as the Green Onion Cake Man, has invented his own golf club out of sheer love for the sport.

Nomess Golf’s driver is “almost revolutionary,” To told Taproot. It’s for sale at Victoria Golf Course and Driving Range for $350, far less than Today’s Golfer’s picks, which run around $600 U.S. each.

“Your mind is always wanting to be improving something, to make it better,” To said. “I think I should share this idea with public. I don’t want to be a big manufacturer.”
